Grimsby Project: Progress Update

5 February 2026

We have been working  alongside a main contractor in Grimsby since October 2025, delivering a comprehensive package of groundworks and surfacing works on what has proven to be a technically demanding but rewarding project.

From the outset, this scheme has required careful planning and close coordination, not only due to the scope of works involved but also because of the location. The site sits within a tight residential cul-de-sac meaning that access, deliveries and day to day operations have had to be managed closely to cause least disruption possible.

Works Completed to Date

Our involvement began with excavation works and clay ground stabilisation, critical first steps given the existing ground conditions. Clay ground can present significant challenges if not treated correctly so stabilising the ground early was essential to ensure the long-term performance.

Following this, we completed the installation of a raft slab, constructed in line with the structural engineer’s recommendations for a new pergola. Any surface or structure is only as strong as what lies beneath it — without the correct preparation, issues such as settlement and movement can occur over time. By getting the foundations right at this stage, we’re ensuring strength, stability and longevity

We then moved on to preparation works for a sunken trampoline, including excavation and groundwork in readiness for the installation of a sump pump, which will manage groundwater and prevent future water accumulation.

Alongside this, we installed new drainage, improving overall water management across the site and integrating seamlessly with the wider scheme.

We’ve also completed fencing works, helping to define the space and maintain safety as the project continues to progress

In addition, we installed block paved borders providing a high-quality durable finish to outline the final surface.

Most recently, we laid the tarmac binder course, forming a strong and level base in preparation for the upcoming resin bound surface installation. This final layer of preparation was crucial in ensuring the finished surface performs as intended and maintains its appearance over time.

Looking Ahead

Despite the challenges of restricted access and working within a cul-de-sac, the project has been delivered so far with minimal disruption — a testament to careful planning, experienced operatives and strong collaboration with the main contractor.

There’s still more to come on this one, and we’re looking forward to sharing the next stages as the project continues to take shape. Watch this space for further updates.
