Last Saturday, the CS Paving & Surfacing team completed another local project – this time at St Andrews Church in Potterhanworth.
Over time, the church’s main access path had become worn, uneven and in need of an upgrade. The church wanted a new surface that would improve both accessibility and appearance — and we were proud to deliver just that.
Before any surfacing work began, we carried out a full utility scan and site preparation to ensure the works could be completed safely and efficiently. The old, surface was excavated and removed, making way for a new solid foundation. Layers of sub-base material were laid and compacted, providing the stability needed for a long-lasting finish.
With the groundwork complete, new edgings were installed to clearly define the path’s footprint and provide durable edges. We then applied tarmac — a binder course for strength and a wearing course to create a smooth, hard-wearing surface. The result was a high-quality tarmac path that’s both practical and visually appealing.
The new access route not only looks great but also offers a safer and more accessible way for visitors of all ages and abilities. The project was completed efficiently leaving the area neat and tidy.
To top off a great day’s work, the team were treated to warm, freshly baked homemade sausage rolls from the church — a thoughtful gesture that was very much appreciated after a busy shift in the cold weather!
At CS Paving & Surfacing, we take pride in every project — from small community improvements to large commercial surfacing. We are pleased to have helped enhance such a historic local landmark and look forward to many more projects like this across Lincolnshire and beyond.
